this is a blog about a project inspired by...my car. i'm charlei. and this project was begun by my dear rose.
my car is its own story. it was a gift from my first friend in recovery from a serious slavery to drugs and a way of life stealing his hope. some people may see it as the kind of gift that makes one say, "don't look a gift horse in the mouth," but it's not like that at all to me. despite times of trouble including a 5 month period that involved maybe an average of 6 push-starts a day (the majority of which were assisted by complete strangers) this car has been a blessing to those without wheels, a rolling chance for people to practice good deeds, and a continual reminder that when you keep giving, it will get back to you. and, the inspiration for the project: this car has a back window that serves as a billboard for hope & creative thought.
the posts on the back window have resulted in more road camaraderie than i believed possible with total strangers, many thought-provoking conversations, and a few beginnings to beautiful friendships.
rose wanted to take this hope that was out on the road to the streets in a new way. i started with the new age jalopy (the name of my car, also sometimes referred to as 'the god mobile' because it only runs when god wants it to) when i lived in tampa, florida and have since moved to greenville, south carolina where i was for 3 months, and i'm currently in bowling green, kentucky. rose is transplanting the love in pittsburgh. i, personally, think it would be fantastic if you could help with this project.
the message is hope. help spread the hope & the love. & let us know how you do it.
we want to know how to reach farther & connect more.
